Your A-Levels
Complete your high school education as you study for your Bachelor’s degree.
IU International University of Applied Sciences has partnered with Cambridge Assessment International Education, to offer the first online A-Levels. You can work on bridging your skill and knowledge and on getting your Bachelor’s degree – at the same time!
Life got in the way of you finishing high school?
Don’t let it stop you! At IU, we believe that everyone deserves a shot at getting a top-of-the-line education. It’s our mission to create inclusive, accessible education – and we certainly don’t think a high school diploma should stand between you and your dream career.
So we now offer applicants without a high school diploma the option to start a Bachelor’s degree while working towards a high school diploma. Thanks to the one-of-a-kind certification from Cambridge Assessment International Education, you can prepare for the Cambridge exam that will get you a high school diploma equivalent— and start your Bachelor’s degree studies at the same time.
Here’s how it works:
1. Choose Your Degree
Pick the online Bachelor’s degree you want to study, from programmes in the fields of data & IT, business & management, health & social care or psychology.
2. Apply Online
It takes just 5 minutes to fill out your application through the form at the bottom of this page, upload the required documents and start your admission process.
3. Document Assessment
Our admissions team will check your documents, and if you’re eligible for A-Levels, you will be notified.
4. Sign and upload your Contract
If you approve of the offer, a study contract will be sent to you. Sign and upload it with the click of a button – and that’s it, you’re ready to go!
Unlike other high school diploma pathways, you don’t have to finish your high school diploma before starting your degree. Instead of working for 12 months on your diploma and only then starting your studies, IU lets you do both.
Our degrees are designed to prepare you for the job market. The study materials focus not only on the theoretical aspects but also on practical exercises and study cases, to help you develop job-ready skills.
Our flexible time models adapt perfectly to your life and learning pace: Because you study when and where you want.
If you have any questions, our tutors are at your side. You are also always connected to your fellow students via the online campus and MS Teams.
With over 100,000 students, we are Germany's largest university - you can rely on first-class study programs, all of which are state-recognized and have received multiple awards.
Studying gives you a better chance of advancement and you can benefit from salary increases in your old or new job.

-
How are you able to offer a high school diploma?
-
We are part of more than 10,000 Cambridge International schools that offer these qualifications. IU is registered as an online school that provides these courses digitally to prepare students for the Cambridge examinations.
-
Do I need any form of school certificate to start A-Levels?
-
No. The only requirements are to be more than 16 years old when applying, and to have B2 level English.
-
How does A-Levels work? What does it include?
-
To receive your high school diploma equivalent from Cambridge Assessment International Education, you’ll need to pass a final exam within 12 months of starting the programme. We will provide you with all the necessary materials needed to prepare for the Cambridge examination. We provide this through synchronous (live) and asynchronous (recorded) teaching, scripts, Q&A, Slides, Videos, Podcasts, etc.
-
What happens if I fail the final exam?
-
If you do not pass any or all of your exams, you can re-register and wait for the next date to take the exam again (by your own means). That means you have 2 chances of passing the final exam during your A-Levels. If you fail to pass the exam on your 2nd attempt, you can try again, by your own means and not as an IU student. You have unlimited chances of taking the exam independently.
-
How do I sign up for A-Levels?
-
All you have to do is fill out the application form on this page, and our study advisors will reach out to you to kickstart the process.
